Update from North Somerset Council:
Book to visit a recycling centre
A booking system for our three recycling centres is being introduced later in 2025. The booking system will be in place in the autumn.
The online booking system will be introduced in stages. The first will be Weston-super-Mare, followed by Backwell and Portishead.
The system is being introduced to make visits faster, safer and more efficient.
It will:
reduce queues
make visits easier
ensure the sites are working efficiently
cut carbon emissions from idling vehicles
reduce unauthorised use by people from outside the area
manage commercial and DIY waste correctly
help to manage sites safely during periods of repairs
simplify vehicle permits for those who need them.
This follows on from neighbouring authorities, who all have successful booking systems in place.
How you can book
You will be able to make a booking:
online – if you do not have access to the internet, friends and family members will be able to book for you
over the phone – although the online option will be quicker and easier
The booking system will be on the website and accessible via the North Somerset Council app.
We will update this page with more details nearer to launch time.
